Do you think this is bad?

Okay, so I mentioned that Kaela is giving us a few full nights of sleep here and there. The thing is, we can only get her to sleep in her car seat. We just drape a blanket over it so the seatbelt doesn't hurt and she lays in it! She wakes up every hour if she just sleeps flat on her back. I wonder if this is bad for her.....but it has to be much better to have a mom that is well-rested....

Once Upon a Potty!!!!!!

Jenna is now finally potty training!! HOORAY!! Being the stubborn little girl she is, she has refused our attempts to potty train for the past 6 months. Finally realizing that she is a visual learner (gee I should have figured that one out, I'm the same way) we got her the video "Once Upon a Potty" complete with "The Potty Song", and that did the trick. Today she went tinkle in her potty pretty much all day (there were a few accidents, especially when she was still wearing panties, she hasn't quite figured out that she needs to pull them down), and this evening was the "piece de resistance", as she went poopy for the first time in her potty and was so proud! It is so wonderful to know that she is done with diapers!!! Only one child in diapers now, hooray!!

Not to be outdone, Kaela (and God) has given us two nights of sleeping through the night! Praise God! I am feeling like a new woman lately and don't know what to do with all this energy. Well, actually today I used my energy acting like a hyperactive caffiene addict every time I tried to get Jenna to go on the potty or after every time she pottied. I read that exuberant enthsiasm is the key to potty training, and it really is, but it wore me out! So, here are some photos of our potty training success (blurred a little so you aren't completely grossed out), and a smiley Kaela (who smiles a lot more now that she isn't colicky and getting more sleep). Prayers have definately been heard and answered, so thank you for praying for us. We were feeling pretty overwhelmed the past couple of months with the lack of sleep!

christmas presents!

Jenna really enjoyed christmas this year! She got a Kitchen set from santa claus and lots of other nice gifts from both grandparents and cousins. Kaela has enjoyed all the lights on the christmas tree. Niki got a nice new coat and a 7mm-08 deer rifle (woohooo!!!!), and matt got an x-box and HDTV cable service.

fun in the snow

We have had a good time in the snow lately! Jenna got some new orange boots for christmas that have come in handy! I've learned that I can bribe jenna with "hot chocolate milk" to get her to come in from the snow. The guys enjoyed a day of ice fishing (I don't think they caught much, though).

Not such a good month, but haniging in there...

Well, I haven't posted in a while since it has been kind of a lousy month. We lost our beloved Grandma Ruth to cancer, it seems, too quickly. Kaela was also sick for most of the month, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because she was in the hospital in columbia at the same time as grandma, and we got to visit each other. Meanwhile, Kaela is getting huge! She really likes to play and smiles a lot, but we are still battling getting her to take a bottle and sleep somewhere other than in bed with us! We are definately learning to rely on help from God and family this last month. Hopefully the new year will hold better things!
